Healthier U Wellness Expo & Job Fair
What started out almost 11 years ago as an idea to promote healthier living to the community has blossomed into a major event that generates much-needed scholarship funds for deserving Lone Star College-Montgomery students.
And, in 2008, the event, known as Healthier U included a job fair component to go along with the two-day communitywide wellness expo. The event began on Wednesday, April 2, 2008, and culminated with the 11th annual Healthier U wellness and job expo on Thursday, April 3. Activities included educational and interactive booths, a 5k fun run/walk, a heart-healthy cook-off, gently-used multimedia sale, physicial presentation, silent auction, free health screenings and more.
With the help from our many sponsors and volunteers, the event proved to be a hugh success. We were able to raise over $25,000, all of which will be used for student scholarships. In addition, we were able to provide information, screening and fun to our several hundred participants. We had a wonderful event this year and look forward to next year. Thanks to all who helped make the event a success.
