Mark Rosenbaum Vessels, Objects and Installations in Glass Art Exhibit Set for Lone Star College–Montgomery Gallery
Lone Star College–Montgomery, Center for the Arts is proud to present the artwork of Mark Rosenbaum Vessels, Objects and Installations in Glass on March 27th through April 17th with an opening reception on Tuesday, March 27th from Noon till
2:00 p.m. Mark Rosenbaum will make a special presentation at 1:00 p.m. for guests attending the opening reception. Kit Wohl will also provide glass work for this show.

Mark Rosenbaum owns Rosetree Glass Studio and Gallery in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is also a Co-Owner of the Nuance Blown Glass Studio in Louisiana. Mr. Rosenbaum is professional affiliated with the Glass Art Society, American Crafts Council and Louisiana Craftsmen Guild. He has a variety of collections in the Pilchuck Glass School in Washington, Tyler School of Art in Pennsylvania  and New Orleans Museum of Art.
Vessels, Objects and Installations in Glass is the latest work provided by the artist. Rosenbaum describes the process of creating magic through hot glass. “It is this controlled spontaneity that makes glass so magical. I know that the weight from the additional glass bits on the side of the piece will stretch the form. But by using centrifugal force and holding the piece at the correct angle and speed, I can create a composition with the glass that allows both the glass and artist some influence on the final piece.”

“Glassblowing is much akin to a dance; the artist moves with respect and knowledge of the partner. Each has an important contribution to the final piece, but only one will lead - the artist. The dance, when completed, yields an object that was only conceived in one's imagination or on paper, a tangible work as a result of collaboration between artist and material."

Mark has partnered with Kit Wohl to provide additional glasswork for the show. Kit Wohl is a versatile designer and artist working in a variety of mediums including sculpture and painting. Wohl's metalica series paintings resonate with texture and depth reflecting the patination and coloration of
metals. Her largest installation is a seven thousand pound cast aluminum ceiling sculpture. Design commissions range from architectural projects to functional art and sculpture. Her work is represented in private collections from New Orleans to New York; Australia to Columbia.

The gallery is a teaching gallery at Lone Star College–Montgomery and the presentations and artwork provided are free to our campus and community. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. For more information regarding the exhibit, call Amy Cooper at (936) 273-7021.
