Mayan culture in Mesoamerica spans a long period of time with the apex of it occurring from approximately 300-900 A.D. Territories include the Yucatan, Belize, Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador This robust civilization built pyramids rivaling those of ancient Egypt. Additionally, they developed a sophisticated calendar and used zero in their mathematical systems. Their glyphs or writing type expressed emotion clearly and in full range. Their art is a complex representation of glyphs and images showing many aspects of Mayan religion, royalty and life. They also kept history in the form of scroll like books. Dr. Koontz brings his vast knowledge of scholarly experiences working in these Mayan countries on an exciting quest to bring more cultural information to light. A question and answer period will follow.
