Class Performance Information
Performance Ensembles:
Lone Star College–Montgomery's performance ensembles present many concerts each year, highlighting a wide variety of repertoire. All ensembles are college-community ensembles, and are made up of full time students and community members. New members are always welcome -- students may register for the courses listed below, community members can join by contacting the continuing education division.
Concert Choir (MUEN 1141) is the school's largest choir, and performs a wide variety of classical and popular music. Concert choir frequently joins the string ensemble to perform larger choral-orchestral works. It is directed by
Greg Ristow. All singers are welcome!
Chamber Singers (MUEN 1151) is a select, auditioned group. This talented group of 12-15 singers performs challenging a cappella music. Recent performances have included spirituals, madrigals, and the Poulenc Christmas Motets. If you are an experienced singer, looking for the challenge of a high-quality chamber group, this is the ensemble for you. Contact Greg Ristow for information on how to audition. Jazz Ensemble (MUEN 1127) is a big band style ensemble. The group performs great jazz charts, ranging from early blues all the way through modern jazz. The group has recently recorded a compact disc, and presented joint concerts with Houston Community College's jazz ensemble. The Jazz Ensemble is directed by Mark Holter. It is open to all instrumentalists without an audition.
String Ensemble (MUEN 1131) is open to all students with experience playing a string instrument. Directed by Dr. Barbara Rask, the string ensemble performs consistently great literature by some of the best known composers. This class is a flexClass, taught on Thursday evenings and Saturday afternoons.
