Transfer Student or Change of Degree Plan

If you are transferring to Lone Star College System from a different school and you have received GI Bill benefits before,

OR you are a current student who has decided to change your degree plan,

OR you are a former Lone Star College System student, and you have received GI Bill benefits before, and you are returning after being absent for more than 3 consecutive semesters you must:

  • Go to your campus to complete admissions and/or request your degree plan be entered in the college computer.

  • Pick up and complete a VA change packet according to “what chapter” you are.

                 * Chapter 30/1606 veterans complete the green packet.

                 * Chapter 35 dependents complete the yellow packet.

  • Return the completed packet to the financial aid office and ask that it be sent via inner-office mail to the Veteran Services System office or you may send it via physical mail to:

  • You must request an official transcript from any previously attended post secondary schools.

  • Please be aware that you are responsible for the payment of your courses. Your GI Bill benefits are paid after your first month of school attendance, however, this is contingent upon the time frame of the completion of your certification.

  • It is very important that you enroll in courses that are part of your chosen degree plan. The Veteran Services System office is only authorized to approve and certify courses that apply to your current Lone Star College System degree plan. To view and/or print your degree plan please see the “Degree Plan” link on the left side of this page.

  • You must report to the Veteran Services System office any time you drop or add a class. Failure to do so may result in an overpayment or a shortage of payment.

  • In order to receive payment: Chapter 30 and chapter 1606 veterans must complete enrollment verification each month on or after the last day of the month in order to receive payment for that month. Your enrollment verification can be verified on the VA website (WAVE) https://www.gibill.va.gov/wave/ or by phone at: 1-877-823-2378
