This low-risk environment ultimately increases self-confidence and autonomy, enhancing academic and personal success. Services include:

  • Computer assisted instruction
  • Customized workshop and handouts
  • Online writing tutorials
  • Orientation conferences
  • Planning and draft conferences
  • Editing conferences
  • Post-grading conferences

Language Tutoring

Help in Spanish, French, Italian, Chinese and Japanese is offered for grammar issues and conversational practice. Tutorial software is also available for use in the ELC. During the Spring and Fall semesters, the ELC offers language tutoring 30 hours per week. Appointments are available. Call 936.273.7055. Walk-ins welcome on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Language Lab

The newly designed Language Lab offers students and community members the ability to use a dedicated space for learning new languages, or improving upon existing skills. The lab offers software to facilitate the following languages: English, Spanish, Italian, French, Chinese, and Japanese.

The lab holds a collection of books, audio CDs and DVDs covering multiple languages. There is also recording equipment for American Sign Language (ASL).

The Language Lab is located in room C-125, and hours of operation are identical as the ELC.
