Local Artist’s First Solo Exhibit Set for Library at Lone Star College-Montgomery...

Article Body

A unique art exhibit featuring Lone Star College-Montgomery employee Pat Rugg’s recent works will be on display in the college’s library (building F) June 5 through July 15. The exhibit, titled “Through My Eyes and Through My Lens,” is Rugg’s first solo effort.

A resident of The Woodlands, Rugg has taken numerous art classes at Lone Star College-Montgomery, including Ceramics, Black and White Photography, Art Appreciation, and Design I and III.  She has exhibited works locally for several years. Rugg currently works in the LSC-Montgomery wellness center. Prior to that, she worked in the college’s student services department.

Travel opportunities have been avenues for Rugg to hone her skills. This exhibit features black and white photos from her New York series that were developed and printed at the college.  For someone who is drawn to harbors, boats, and the sea, the British Virgin Islands provided Rugg with a wonderful setting for the sepia-toned photograph “Tortola Island.” The vibrant colored pencil collage “Sea Life” was inspired while snorkeling in Ambergris Caye, Belize. Two jellyfish photographs, “Under the Sea” and “Portuguese man-o-war,” capture the delicacy and detail in design of such unique sea creatures. Selections from her French series share with the viewer her fascination with architecture and cathedrals.

The LSC-Montgomery summer library hours are Monday-Thursday from 7 a.m.-9:30 p.m. and Friday 7 a.m.-5 p.m.

LSC-Montgomery is located between Conroe and The Woodlands at 3200 College Park Drive, one-half mile west of Interstate 45. For more information about the college, call (936) 273-7000, or visit Montgomery.LoneStar.edu.
