Texas Educational Theatre Association T.E.T.A

LSC – Montgomery theatre department recently applied as an institutional member for the Texas Educational Theatre Association. T.E.T.A was created to improve the status of educational theatre in Texas. Through the association college and high school  theatre programs share educational experiences, use resources available to strengthen teachers and program materials. After an on-site visit and review from the T.E.T.A. members LSC-Montgomery theatre was accepted as an institutional member.

Associate Theatre Professor, Chase Waites recently attended the annual T.E.T.A convention with several theatre students. At the convention, students had the opportunity to participate in a variety of hands-on performance and technical theatre workshops, one-on-one sessions and lectures by experienced professionals including Lucy Arnaz and Adam Pascal.

“I can honestly say that the T.E.T.A conference was one of the best educational experiences I have ever had,” said Jennifer Hennessy. “I feel that the presenters were all very knowledgeable, and the feature guests were inspiring and great performers too. I learned about accents, monologue auditions, costuming, make-up, and so much more.”

LSC-Montgomery theatre also participated in Design Fest. Property masters Tim Stinnett and Linda Whittington displayed their properties design for the college’s 2007 theatre production Home Front. Justyn Reed and Rick Sellers displayed their sound design from the same production. Home Front was a participating entry for the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival at San Jacinto College in October. The evaluation from the convention will be used to enhance the display for the Regional KC/ACTF in February. MORE >>>
