ARTIST BIOGRAPHY

Will Brooks (b.1977) is an artist living and working in Houston, TX.  He was born near the rolling woodlands of the Kisatchie National Forest in central Louisiana, and he has been creating art since childhood.  Will earned his B.F.A. (cum laude) in 2000 from Louisiana Tech University School of Art, one of the most successful art schools in the southern United States.  His studies extensively focused on skills involving drawing, painting and printmaking.

After college, Will decided to live in New Orleans, LA to absorb the unique European influenced energy the city exudes.  After the Hurricane Katrina disaster in 2005, he decided to relocate with his partner to Houston, TX.  Houston provides an artistic atmosphere ripe for creativity and exploration.  The city radiates the very special energy of a thriving metropolis that embraces progress and diversity.

Will’s work reflects his interest in the spiritual side of the human experience and is heavily influenced by the ideas of the Oneida, Taoist texts, and the “Art of Peace.”  Will also remains active in his community by contributing time and pieces of his art to local non-profit organizations for fund-raising purposes.  In 2006 he organized a silent auction/art show benefiting Camp Hope (a summer camp for children with HIV/AIDS supported by AIDS Foundation Houston).

Will uses various media to create his visual compositions including paper, inks, acrylics, watercolor, graphite, color pencils, resins, and varnishes.  He strives for each piece to be a visual adventure-a unique journey with insights to discover along the way.  Within the decade, Will sees himself as a major player in 21st Century American Art impacting the art world with his own unique vision.
