Stagecraft I
This course introduces students to the aesthetics and practice of stagecraft design and provides the student with a basic understanding of the design requirements for the technical aspects of a play. This course will include hands-on design experience.
Basic Computer-Aided Drafting
An introduction to computer-aided drafting. Emphasis is placed on setup; creating and modifying geometry; storing and retrieving predefined shapes; placing, rotating, and scaling objects, adding text and dimensions, using layers, coordinate systems, and plot/print to scale.
Interpersonal Communication
Interpersonal Communication focuses on the complex process of person-to-person communication. The course is designed to facilitate the student's conscious awareness of the impact of messages, verbal and nonverbal, sent and received by him/her.
Fundamentals of Networking Technologies
Instruction in networking technologies and their implementation. Topics include the OSI reference model, network protocols, transmission media, and networking hardware and software.
Introduction to PC Operating Systems
A study of personal computer operating systems. Topics include installation and configuration, file management, memory and storage management, control of peripheral devices, and use of utilities.
Theatre Practicum: Lighting & Sound
This course provides students a foundation in lighting and sound for the theatre. Classroom instruction supports the hands-on experience in designing and providing technical support for theatre productions and events.
Home Technology Integration
Integration and maintenance of various home technology subsystems. Includes home automation, security and surveillance, home networks, video and audio networks, and structured wiring.
Personal Computer Hardware
A study of current personal computer hardware including personal computer assembly and upgrading, setup and configuration, and troubleshooting.
Integrated Software Applications III
Designed for advanced users with emphasis on a wide range of productivity tasks including complex assignments that require advanced formatting and functionality. ITSW 1301 and ITSW 1404 are recommended prior to enrolling in the course.
Information and Project Management
Critical path methods for planning and controlling projects. Includes time/cost tradeoffs, resource utilization, stochastic considerations, task determination, time management, scheduling management, status reports, budget management, customer service, professional attitude, and project supervision.
Introduction to Audio Visual/Lighting Systems
Overview of the audiovisual industry. Includes industry trends, opportunities, and resources that are available to AV specialists. Topics include basic functions of cabling, interconnections, and system components used in the audio, video and system integration sectors of the industry and proficiency in using the technology.
Audio Visual/Lighting Systems-Troubleshooting
Active integration of knowledge of audio/video/lighting systems into a working environment which focuses on specific challenges encountered in the audio/video/lighting industry.
Audio Visual/Lighting Systems Project Installation and Presentation
Demonstration of the technologies and the skills required for installing and uninstalling equipment on a project basis in audio/video/lighting systems. Topics include installation, troubleshooting, documentation, written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills, customer service skills, teamwork, time management, labor management, and safety codes. The course culminates with examples of project management in various environments.
Intermediate Cooperative Education: Audio/Video/Lighting Systems
Career-related activities encountered in the audio/video/lighting systems industry offered through an individualized agreement among the college, employer, and student. Under the supervision of the college and the employer, the student combines classroom learning with work experience. Includes a lecture component.
