The Lone Star College-Montgomery Chamber Singers, a select choir of 16 voices, will appear on tour in Dallas and Huntsville, Texas, from April 10-12. The choir will present a free, public performance at the Plymouth Park United Methodist Church in Irving on Friday, April 11, at 7:30 p.m. In addition, the group will conduct three private performances for residents at the Juliette Fowler Retirement Facility, Caruth Haven Court, and Carriage Inn.

The choir is directed by Gregory Ristow, professor of music at Lone Star College-Montgomery. These concerts mark the group’s third annual tour, and the first time they’ve performed in the Dallas area. MORE >>>

LSC-Montgomery Hires Director of Bands, Launches Band Program
LSC-Montgomery is pleased to announce the recent hire of Dr. Tom Smith as the newest full-time member of the music department faculty. Beginning this fall, Dr. Smith will conduct the college’s symphonic band and jazz ensembles, and coordinate the instrumental program as a whole. “It’s an honor to have a teacher of this caliber and experience joining our faculty,” said Dr. Earl Holt, chair of performing arts at the college.  “Before he began teaching, Tom experienced an exceptional career as a jazz and orchestral trumpeter.  He’s taught in Texas middle school and high school band programs, and at the college level, and brings a wealth of experience to the job.”
