Communicating & Writing Across the Curriculum
Welcome to the CAC Web site!
CAC Submissions
Communication Across the Curriculum (CAC) is now collecting ideas and proposals for presentations/discussions for the Fall 08 Semester. All faculty (full and adjunct) and staff are invited to consider making a presentation.
CAC meets Wednesdays, 3 to 4pm, Blue Star C.A.F.E.
CAC discussions are informal and diverse and can take different forms, from individual presentations to panels. Here are some ideas in no particular order:
• Presentations about some ongoing or past personal research
• “Best Semester” reports
• Presentations about some idea or article you are especially interested in
• A teaching practice that has worked particularly well
• Discussions about some topical issue or discipline-specific question within the college or in the profession as a whole
This semester the variety of presentations has been especially great and have included the following:
Principles of Professionalism in Education (Larry Loomis-Price)
A Critique of the Idea of Global Warming (John Kleist and Nathalie Brandes)
Teaching Genesis and Darwin in Texas (Jim Cortese)
Early Alert and Student Success (Julie Leidig)
The Churches of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico (Linda Woodward)
Post Primaries Prognostications (Gary Brown and Panel of Govt. Faculty)
Latest Research on Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (Laura Montgomery)
On the calendar to your left is the schedule for spring 08 so you can see the full titles and range of topics.
Contact any of us if you already have an idea or have questions. There are only so many Wednesdays in the semester, so if you have an idea, no matter how developed at this point, please don’t delay letting us know.
Contact any member of the CAC Advisory Group in your department or area listed below. If you would like to present, moderate a talk or organize a panel, but not until the spring 09, let us know that too.
Thanks,
Ron Heckelman
