Classes run the entire gamut of training from bookkeeping skills to preparing financial reports, tax returns and detailed audits.
Two different certificate programs enable you to select either accounting or professional bookkeeping as your specialty. In the area of accounting, you will become proficient in the preparation of various costs and revenue analyses and financial reports.
Those with bookkeeping certificates can offer attractive skills in recording and posting business transactions and maintaining financial ledgers.
The Texas State Board of Public Accountancy awarded Lone Star College System District the designation to offer "Qualifying Educational Credit" for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Examination.
This designation allows individuals who have a baccalaureate or higher degree to enroll at LSC-Montgomery and earn the 30 advanced accounting hours needed to take the examination to become a CPA.
The following degrees and certificates are available at Lone Star College–Montgomery:
- Professional Bookkeeper Certificate
- Accounting Certificate
- Accounting Associate of Applied Science Degree
- Qualifying Educational Credit for CPA Exam
- Accounting Advanced Technical Certificate
Will I be able to transfer to a four-year University?
Lone Star College System has worked to create articulation (transfer) agreements with several universities. The AAS in accounting is fully transferable into specific degree programs allowing students to continue their academic pursuit.
- University of Houston - Downtown will transfer the degree into its bachelor of science in interdisciplinary studies. This degree must be completed at The University Center.
- University of Houston-Victoria will transfer the degree into its bachelor of applied arts and sciences.
- University of Phoenix will transfer the degree into its bachelor of arts in accounting.
